CE and UKCA certificates and their validityCE certificates will remain valid in the UK until the end of 2022.
The UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has postponed the deadline for UKCA certification to 1 January 2023 due to the impact of the pandemic on businesses.
The relevant legislation still needs to be written, but the Guidance for placing finished goods on the UK market has already been revised.
Ulrich (Uli) Heinemann, CEO of IMCI says: "This is really good news for our marine industry. It gives all those who want to export their products to the UK an extra year to clear the new hurdles." IMCI's spin-off, IMCI (UK), has already completed the UK accreditation procedures and is awaiting its notification from BEIS. Upon receipt, IMCI (UK) will be able to issue UKCA certificates in addition to the CE certificates issued by IMCI well before the deadline. Uli adds: "The postponement of the deadline not only relieves the manufacturers but also us."
